About The Band | |
Scott Barkan - Guitar Hailing from the small town of Miller Place, NY, Scott Barkan picked up his first electric guitar on his 11th birthday and knew right away that he had rock in his heart. He felt immediately drawn to the instrument, and within 2 years, was already gigging regularly around town with local cover bands, and with groups playing his own original music. Since those golden days, Scott has played extensively throughout the northeast and midwest, and even internationally, with his own projects and as a sideman in the cajun/klezmer/rock outfit Hypnotic Clambake. Scott studied jazz performance briefly at the Manhattan School of Music, before finishing out his degree in composition at SUNY Purchase. At MSM and Purchase Scott studied with some of the worlds finest musicians including Chris Rosenberg (of Ornette Coleman's Primetime), Kermit Driscoll (of Bill Frisell's famed trio), and Wayne Krantz. Noah Jarrett - Bass Noah grew up rocking out in his basement in rural New Jersey. Sharing music with his close friends led Noah into genres such as jazz, roots reggae, North African, Indian raga, etc. Noah primarily studied the double bass for nearly 10 years, still playing the electric bass quite often. Noah is currently performing in and around NYC and Boston with Fat lil' Bastard, a dark groovy guitar trio, the Inbetweens, and miscellaneous jazz groups. He has studied with Gary Peacock, Cecil McBee, John Lockwood, Marcus McLaurine, and Bob Moses. He has recently graduated NEC and currently works as a luthier at David Gage's String Repair, a bass shop in Manhattan. Noah plans to pursue music until he starves or embraces its splendor. Brook Martinez - Drums Brook Martinez was born and raised in Ambler, Pennsylvania. He began to play the drums in his wonder years and hasn't stopped since. After a brief (two year) stint at the University of Pennsylvania, Brook completed his education at New York University with a bachelor in music. Since graduating, Brook has been performing all around the New York metropolitan area with artists such as Cuong Vu, Ben Monder, Angie Sanchez, Tony Malaby, Peter Epstein, Andrew D'Angelo, Daniel Carter, Drew Gress, and several other creative musicians. | ||
